The European U17 Championships are now less than a month away, with some of the continent's top young talents battling out to take home the title in both the individual and the team events.
Can team Denmark finally be toppled?
Team Denmark remains undefeated in the competition, after winning all of the last five team events since they have joined in 2007, but with a number of top young players emerging from other countries, this could finally be the year when they are stopped.
Taking into consideration the recent U17 BEC rankings, it looks like team Germany has a chance to massively improve on its 2017 result, when they were comfortably beaten by Denmark in the knockout stage (3-0).
The Germans have a player in the top 10 of each discipline in the rankings, including Women’s Singles number one Thuc Phuong Nguyen.
Nguyen has been performing well so far this year and even won the Future Series event in Germany at the B.A.B.B German International in May, so she could be one to watch out for, should she be nominated to play at the end of the month, by the German Badminton Federation.
The draw for the team event has already taken place, with the Germans seeded 2nd behind Russia, so the chances of taking home the title are quite promising.

All you need to know
The European U17 Championships begin on the 30th August and will run all the way through to the 7th September.
The team event will be played first, running from the 30th August to the 3rd September, followed by the individual event in the last four and a half days.
This year’s event is being held at the Gosir Gniezno Sports Hall in Gniezno Poland, which is a city in central-western Poland, around 50km east of Poznan.
Although the team event has already been drawn, the individual events' draw, will not take place until the 20th August, so keep an eye on Badminton Europe's platforms for the upcoming draws.
