The host nation will be seeded four at the 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships.

Kazan is almost ready to host the biggest team event in Europe in 2018, and now the seedings are ready.

The host nation, Russia, will be seeded four for both Men’s and Women’s team.


- We are hoping for a good draw, and I think that our chances to get a medal are good. It is important for us. The tournament is in Russia so of course we want to take a medal, Viktor Volkov, Team Manager for the Russian national team says.

Denmark on top
Seven teams are seeded in the European Men’s Team Championships, and six are seeded for the Womens’ event.

The defending Champions, Denmark, is top seeded for both Men’s and Women’s team.
 
Besides Denmark and Russia, England and Germany are seeded to reach the semi-finals in the men’s competition. France, Poland and Finland complete the seeding. Denmark, Russia, Spain and Germany are the top seeded for the women’s tournament, with Bulgaria and England taking the remaining seeding positions.


Eight teams qualify for knock out stage
The European Men’s Team Championships group stage will consist of six groups with each four teams and one group with five team. Eight teams will qualify for the knock out stage: Group winners and the best ranked team finishing second in their group.

The European Women’s Team Championship group stage will consist of six groups with each four teams. Eight teams will qualify for the knock out stage: Group winners and the two best ranked teams finishing second in their groups.
 

Draw on December 5th
The draw for the group stage will take place on December 5th, and can be seen live on Badminton Europe’s Youtube Channel. The 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships will take place in Kazan from 13-18 February 2018.
