A mobile badminton court, good weather and a famous central place in a big city. That is all you need to promote and to popularize badminton in Europe. A new initiative by the National Badminton Federation of Russia to make badminton a more popular sport took place a couple of days ago in Moscow.

A mobile badminton center court was placed near the walls of the Kremlin, the former royal citadel and currently the official residence of the President of Russia, to play badminton with passers-by and to bring it directly to the people.

Former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and also the current President Vladimir Putin have declared their passion for badminton in the past.

The National Badminton Federation of Russia is a growing Member Associaton of Badminton Europe Confederation with 15.000 registered players in about 240 badminton clubs in the country. The 2013 European Mixed Team Championships will be hosted by the Russian federation in the Moscow region.
