This project had its initial planning after the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the first edition took place in July 2017 which attracted more than 1000 ladies around Spain to play badminton.

This project is an ongoing project with long term goals until 2020 and was included into a National Programme, named ´Universe Women´ developed by the Spanish Sports High Council – Ministry of Sports. IBERDROLA, a multinational energy company is the main supporter of Women Sport in Spain through Women, Health & Sport.

David Cabello, President of Badminton Spain received the award on behalf of  Women, Health and Sport in Dubrovnik, Croatia at the 6th BEC Awards Gala.

Cabello on winning the award, ´I am very pleased to be here tonight (14th April 2018) in representation of the Spanish badminton family and more specially the women members of this family, to receive BEC Badminton for Women Award. Our gratitude goes to BEC for recognizing the labor carried out, not only by Badminton Spain, but also by the Spanish government through the Spanish High Council for Sport and by our sponsor, IBERDROLA, and their being the driving force behind Women sport. It is a team work, public and private, of three large entities with the common aim of attaining genuine equality for Women in sport through Women, Health and Sport.´
