An international Para badminton training camp was successfully held in Vienna from 10th to 12th April, bringing together players and coaches from several countries ahead of the upcoming tournament in Prague.

Organised in Maria-Enzersdorf Südstadt/Vienna, the three-day camp focused on preparing Austrian athletes for international competition while also creating valuable opportunities for high-level sparring and international exchange.

A total of 22 participants, including seven female and 15 male athletes, took part in the project. Across 13 hours of hall training, players were able to test themselves against opponents they would not usually encounter in their regular training environments, gaining important experience against different playing styles and levels of competition.

Special attention was given to two Austrian players who had recently received international classification and were preparing for their first international Para badminton tournament. The camp provided them with an important introduction to the international environment and helped build confidence ahead of Prague.

The presence of experienced international players also created strong sparring opportunities for Austria’s more established athletes, contributing to successful performances at the tournament that followed, including podium finishes.

The camp featured support from three coaches and additional staff members throughout the weekend. On Saturday, the arrival of Serbian players further strengthened the training environment, with three coaches simultaneously providing feedback and individual guidance during sessions.

The organisers described the project as an important combination of sporting development, community building, and international cooperation. While the camp was considered highly successful, organisers also noted that future editions could further improve the integration and planning for the different Para badminton classification groups to ensure the best possible experience for all participants.
