After a short one-week break following the Denmark Open, the BWF World Tour resumes with the HYLO Open 2024 in Saarbrücken, Germany – the final event in this year’s European leg. Starting today, this highly anticipated tournament promises thrilling matches as top European and international players compete for victory.

Among the standout competitors, the defending champion Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei is the one to beat, having secured the title last year. France’s Alex Lanier comes in with strong momentum, having reached the semifinals at the Denmark Open and winning the Japan Open Super 750, which now has boosted him to #15 in the world rankings.

In the women’s singles, Denmark’s Line Kjærsfeldt, alongside Mia Blichfeldt — who also claimed the title at the German Open 2024 earlier in the year — leads the field of the Europeans, alongside the likes of Kirsty Gilmour, all chasing a BWF World Tour title to finish the season on a high note. The likes of Chinese Taipei's Sung bested Kirsty Gilmour in the first round at the Denmark Open in a razor-thin match, it was the first time they had met. There, a bitter Gilmour uttered that she wanted a rematch.

The men’s singles features France’s Christo Popov, who won the German Open earlier this year against Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke in a thrilling final.

The women’s doubles category adds intrigue with newly formed pairs: Margot Lambert is temporarily partnering with Debora Jille due to Lambert's regular partner, Anne Tran, recovering from injury. They competed together last week at the Dutch Open reaching the semifinals. Also making their debut is the new Danish partnership of Natasja Anthonisen and Maiken Fruergaard, creating excitement about their potential.
