Despite landing in what was dubbed as the 'group of death' for men's doubles at this year's Olympic badminton competition, Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen have held their own against tough opponents.
Group D, the only one with not four but five pairs, witnessed the Danish duo's third group match today. Astrup/ Rasmussen secured a convincing win in straight games against China's Liu Yu Chen/ Ou Xuan Yi, 21-15 21-13.
This victory marks the Danes as the only pair in their group to have played three matches so far, positioning them just behind the defending champions, Lee Yang/ Wang Chi-Lin from Chinese Taipei. With two wins and one loss, the Danes' path to the next round looks promising as they head into their final group match but they will be facing a strong pair to finish things off — Japan's Takuro Hoki/ Yugo Kobayashi.
