Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva (BUL) just secured a crucial victory against Yeung Nga Ting/ Yeung Pui Lam (HKG) in Group B of the Women's Double division at the Paris Olympics 2024.
"We are really happy with the win today but we still have two more to play," Gabriela stated to Badminton Europe after the sister got an impressive win.
"The Hong Kong players play very aggressive from every corner of the court and if you don’t play correctly, they will eat you. The good defensive and the patience was the key. "
This puts the Stoeva's in an excellent position to advance out of the group stages. Tomorrow, they face the third seeded Liu Sheng Shu/ Tan Ning (CHN). A victory against the Chinese or the American pairs Annie Xiu/ Kerry Xiu would give them a great chance of securing a quarterfinal spot.
