Denmark is set to welcome Europe's top badminton talent as the host nation for the 2025 European Championships, which will be held in the city of Horsens.
This marks the first time since 2017 that Denmark, a nation renowned for being a powerhouse of our sport, will host the individual European Championships. The event returns to Denmark where the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships in Copenhagen and earlier editions in 1996 and 2008 in Herning were also successfully organised.
The championships will be held at the sports and events arena Forum Horsens.
Sven Serré, President of Badminton Europe, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are pleased to have awarded Denmark the hosting rights for the individual European Championships. Denmark is a leading badminton nation with a passionate fan base, and we anticipate fantastic support from the audience. With Denmark's solid experience in hosting major championships, as we saw at the 2023 World Championships in Copenhagen, we are confident that this will be a hugely successful event.”
Kristian Pihl, Chairman of Badminton Denmark, is equally optimistic about the event’s prospects, noting, “It's fantastic to have a European Championships on home soil in 2025. It fits in well with our long-term ambitions to bring even more badminton championships to Denmark. A few weeks ago, Denmark did well at the European Championships in Germany and of course, we hope to have an even better European Championships at home next year.”
Horsens Municipality is also excited about the upcoming event and eagerly anticipates welcoming fans, coaches, and players from across Europe to the city in 2025.
The 2025 European Championships will be played in week 15 (7-13 April) but exact dates are yet to be agreed. Tickets will go on sale later this year, coinciding with the VICTOR Denmark Open.
