Meet Kathy-Karmen Kale, our newest team member who has embarked on her journey as Events Officer at Badminton Europe from September 1st.
“Badminton for me is like a lifestyle - I work in badminton, my family started playing badminton after me, most of my friends are from badminton. It really is a sport that connects people, and I am really happy to be part of it.”
Kathy was born in Tallinn, Estonia, a place she's called home her whole life, and speaks both English and Estonian fluently. At just 24 years old, her move to Copenhagen for this role was a fresh and solo adventure, as she was ready to embrace new challenges.
Kathy's journey to Badminton Europe is inspiring. With five years of experience, she arrives at BEC with an admirable background in the world of badminton, having dived headfirst into the sport straight after high school. “I went to work for Badminton Estonia and started coaching the same year. I coached mainly children from ages 6 to 19. In addition, I was the one who organized all the tournaments, was responsible for Para badminton in Estonia, and did the main communication with our clubs.”
Kathy's heart truly beats for events. Her office work has also given her a global perspective on how different members conduct their tournaments, and she's excited to share her expertise. “I love the thrill in the venue and solving the problems that come up during the event. In the office it’s cool to see how different countries do their tournaments and help them as much as I can.”
Outside of work, Kathy enjoys playing the sport herself. Additionally, she dabbles in disc golf as a hobby. She also really enjoys podcasts and music, which keep her entertained during her free time.
Her journey at BEC has just begun, and we can't wait to see the remarkable impact she'll make. So, please join us in welcoming Kathy to Badminton Europe!
