Unlike last week’s US Open, Line Christophersen was not able to back up her breakthrough title with a second Super 300 victory in a row, which would have been a remarkable achievement considering the US Open was her first ever World Tour title.

In Canada, Christophersen instead had to settle for silver after reaching another final, but the overall picture remains extremely positive. A gold and a silver across back-to-back weeks marks the most successful stretch of the 26 year old's international career so far, confirming her growing consistency at the top level of the World Tour.

In the final, Christophersen faced Japan’s Riko Gunji and was unable to find a way through, losing 21-15 15-21 21-6 in a match that swung after a strong Danish response in the second game.

In men’s doubles, Rasmus Kjær/Christian Faust Kjær also continued their impressive run since teaming up, reaching their first World Tour final together. After already winning two International Circuit titles and reaching the semifinals at three Super 300 events this season (Swiss Open, Orléans Masters and US Open), the Canadian Open final marked another clear step forward.

The Danish pair came up against Japan's Hiroki Okamura / Koga Yamashita, going down 21-13 10-21 17-21 after a momentum shift in the deciding game.

France’s Julien Maio / William Villeger also made a strong run to the semifinals before being stopped by the eventual Danish finalists, while Alexander Dunn / Julie Macpherson also secured a third-place finish after a solid campaign in Canada.

The World Tour now moves on to the second Asian leg, starting with the Super 750 Japan Open in Tokyo on July 14.
