Five-time European Champions Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva have been eliminated from the SATHIO GROUP Australian Badminton Open 2026 following a quarter-final defeat.
The Bulgarian sisters, who were the last remaining European players in the tournament, fell to Indonesia's Rose/Setianingrum in straight games, 21-15, 21-12. The Indonesian pair, currently ranked World No. 11, secured their place in the semi-finals with a good performance.
Their defeat also marks the end of European involvement in the Australian Open.
Several of Europe's top players opted to skip the tournament following an intense four-week stretch of World Tour events across Asia, however a good handfull og European players still played in Australia.
With the Bulgarians now out of the competition, no European players remain in any of the draws as the tournament heads into its decisive semi-final and final stages this weekend.
Next week on the world Tour is the Macao Open Super 300, where also just a handfull of Europeans will be attending.
