Ben Lane/Sean Vendy are through to the semifinals of the VICTOR China Open 2026, securing another milestone for the English pair this year.

After falling at the quarterfinals last week at the Japan Open, Lane/Vendy have gone one step further in Changzhou, defeating Japan's Kakeru Kumagai/Hiroki Nishi 21-9, 18-21, 21-17 to secure themselves a podium finish at the Super 1000 tournament.

The English duo made a flying start, starting off strong in the opening game, taking it 21-9. The Japanese opponents responded well in the second, winning it 21-18 to force a decider.

In the third game, Lane/Vendy regained control. Although Kumagai/Nishi managed to catch up in the score on several occasions, the English pair consistently stayed in front before sealing the win, 21-17.

It marks Lane/Vendy's second Super 1000 semifinal of the year, having reached their first at the Malaysia Open earlier this year. The result also adds to their strong run, following back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in Japan and China.

The English pair will meet either Korea's Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae or China's Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi in the semifinals, two very strong pairs.
