The POLYTRON Indonesia Open 2026 quarterfinals delivered contrasting fortunes for France, as both of their remaining singles players exited the tournament, while Europe’s attention now turns to a high-stakes all-European clash in the mixed doubles semifinals in Jakarta.

Alex Lanier was beaten by Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul in a three-game battle, going down 18-21 21-7 17-21. The Thai player, competing in his first Super 1000 quarterfinal, produced a standout performance to reach the semifinals for the first time at this level.

There was also defeat for Toma Junior Popov, who fell to Victor Lai in straight games, ending the French adventure in the men’s singles draw.

However there is still greaat excitement for Europe in the semfinals, with a highly anticipated clash set between Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje and France’s Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue. The matchup pits the fourth seeds against the fifth seeds, with the Danes currently ranked just ahead in the world rankings, sitting fifth compared to the French pair at sixth.

The Danish pair of Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje arrive in strong form on the back of a consistent run in Asia, highlighted by a title at the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2026, a semifinal finish at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2026, and another title run at the TOYOTA Thailand Open 2026, underlining their current momentum on the World Tour alongside being crowned European Championships in early April.

This means we have a baranteed European in the Super 1000 final on sunday as well. To find out who it will be, tune in tomorrow to watch the anticipated matchup!
