A year ago, he was among the world's top men's doubles players and was starting to prepare for the World Championships in Paris.

Today, his life looks completely different, away from the World Tour and the long travels around the world. You can read more about the decisions Frederik Søgaard made at the end of 2025, when he chose to leave the national federation and instead start out on his own here.

It has been approximately eight months since Frederik Søgaard left the national federation, and with that also the World Tour, where he and partner Rasmus Kjær reached a career-high ranking of World No. 13.

Yesterday, it was announced that the former top player will join the academy of former world-class player and BEC Hall of Fame member Peter Gade in Denmark.

Frederik Søgaard is still only 28 years old and could easily have had several good years left at the highest level. Instead, he has chosen to move into coaching and will join the Peter Gade Academy as an Assistant Coach.

Coaching is not completely unfamiliar to Søgaard. Since leaving the World Tour, he has travelled around Europe working with several national federations, sparring with top players and sharing his experiences to help support and develop those nations.
