The YONEX Italian Open 2026 concluded on Sunday in Bolzano, with European players claiming four of the five titles on offer.
The standout story of the week came in Men's Singles, where Denmark's Karan Rajan Rajarajan completed a remarkable run to the title.
Earlier in the tournament, Rajarajan produced one of the biggest upsets of the opening round by defeating top seed Duc Phat Le of Vietnam despite entering the event ranked 53 places below his opponent. The Dane continued his impressive form throughout the week and capped it off with a 21-19 21-13 victory over fellow Dane Victor Kauffmann in the final.
European success continued across all three doubles disciplines.
In Men's Doubles, Germany's Danial Iman Marzuan/Aaron Sonnenschein defeated Malik Bourakkadi/Kenneth Neumann 21-15 19-21 21-17 to lift the title.
Women's Doubles gold went to England's Lisa Curtin/Yulia Tang, who edged the Netherlands' Kirsten de Wit/Debora Jille 21-19 22-20 in a closely contested final.
Germany also celebrated success in Mixed Doubles, as Selin Krax/Aaron Lehmann defeated Jona Völker/Emma Moszczynski 21-17 21-13 in an all-German final.
The only title to leave Europe was Women's Singles, where UAE representative Prakriti Bharath defeated India's Anwesha Gowda 21-19 21-12 to secure the crown.
With four of the five titles won by European players, the tournament provided another positive week for the continent's athletes on the Badminton Europe Elite Circuit.
