The European Olympic Committees (EOC) have now approved the qualification system for badminton at the European Games 2027 in Istanbul. 

At Badminton Europe, we are pleased that badminton will once again be part of the programme at the European Games. The qualification system has been developed in cooperation between the EOC and Badminton Europe, and we highly appreciate the good collaboration throughout the entire process.

The European Games were held for the first time in 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and badminton has been on the programme at every edition of the Games. The tournament in Istanbul 2027 will therefore be the fourth time badminton is part of the European Games, following Baku 2015, Minsk 2019 and Kraków-Małopolska 2023.

Earlier this year, we staged the European Men's & Women's Team Championships in Türkiye. In addition to being a very well-executed event, it also served as a test event ahead of next year's European Games, which will be played in the same venue as the European Men's & Women's Team Championships earlier this year.

We are happy and proud that badminton will once again be on the programme when the next edition of the European Games takes place from 16–27 June 2027.
