Badminton icon Lin Dan, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, has visited Serbia as a new ambassador of EXPO 2027 Belgrade. The Chinese star joins an ambassador team that already includes legends like former sprinter Usain Bolt and actor Jackie Chan.
During his visit, the two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion attended an event at the National Badminton Centre in Belgrade, where he met members of Serbia's national badminton team. Hosted by Radomir Jovović, President of the Executive Board of the Badminton Association of Serbia, the session gave Serbian players a rare opportunity to play alongside one of the sport's all-time greats. The event served as a source of motivation and inspiration for Serbian badminton players, further strengthening the connection between the global badminton community and the development of the sport in Serbia.
Speaking during his visit, Lin Dan said “The progress of humanity is based on cooperation, the exchange of experiences, and mutual learning. Sport speaks a universal language and therefore connects people regardless of where they come from. These are values that I have sought to represent throughout my entire career, and it is an honour for me to continue promoting them as an ambassador of EXPO 2027,”
Lin Dan's presence in Serbia attracted considerable public and media attention and represents an important opportunity to further strengthen the visibility of badminton within the country and the European continent.
