This week, the BEC Elite Circuit goes to Uppsala, Sweden, where the VICTOR Swedish Open 2025 will be taking place from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 January. The International Series tournament will host an interesting lineup of players and you can catch all the action live on BadmintonEurope.tv.

In men's singles, the draw features Victor Ørding Kauffmann, fresh off his runner-up finish at the Estonian International, who could potentially face a second-round clash against the seventh seed, Fabian Roth. The draw is brimming with some Circuit stars, including Arnaud Merkle, Pablo Abian, and Ade Resky Dwicahyo.

The women's singles draw also promises exciting matchups, headlined by top seed Léonice Huet facing Anna Siess Ryberg, who also claimed a runner-up spot in Estonia last week. Unseeded Stefani Stoeva, alongside other contenders such as sixth seed Rachael Darragh and fifth seed Neslihan Arin, are also strong contenders to advance to the later stages.

The men’s doubles draw features Yue Chern Chua/Koon Fung Kelvin Ho, unseeded yet powered by their recent Estonian International title. They aim for another strong showing, potentially facing third seeds Ivan Rusev/Iliyan Stoynov in the second round. The women’s doubles draw is equally competitive, with top pairs like the Stoeva sisters and the French duo Margot Lambert, 2024 European Championships women’s doubles gold medallist, and Camille Pognante, 2024 European Junior Championships women’s doubles gold medallist, as well as the Turkish pair of Bengisu Ercetin/Nazlıcan Inci, and Swedish home favourites Moa Sjoo/Tilda Sjoo.

Swedish talent is well-represented in the men’s doubles with Filip Karlborg/Mio Molin, as well as in mixed doubles with pairs Jakob Ekman/Nathalie Wang and Ludwig Axelsson/Sofia Strömvall, all competing in the main draw.

The BEC RSL Centre of Excellence is well represented, with athletes competing in various events: Kim Schmidt in the women’s singles main draw; Elena-Alexandra Diordiev in women’s singles qualification; and Milan Dratva, Marcus Kruse, Richard Kuhl, and Dimitar Yanakiev in men’s singles qualification.
