Anders Antonsen delivered a solid performance at the Super 1000 PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2025, securing his first podium finish of the year.

The match against Kunlavut Vitidsarn was a showcase of Antonsen's current mental and technical strength. The first game started evenly matched, with the score tied at 15-15 after the break. From there, Antonsen surged ahead, winning six consecutive points to win the first game.

The second game saw the Dane in control from the start, ultimately winning 21-15 in a match that lasted just under 50 minutes. Antonsen will be facing Kodai Naraoka in the semifinal. The Dane is tied 4-4 in the head-to-head against the 23-year-old Japanese player. Seeing his performances in the last few months, will we see another confident win from him in Kuala Lumpur?

Remaining Europeans bow out
However, it was a different story for the rest of the European players. Anders Antonsen will be the only European left standing in the semifinals.

Christo Popov/Toma Junior Popov were unable to overcome Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee, falling 11-21 15-21. Ben Lane/Sean Vendy also faced a tough match against the Chinese pair Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi, losing both games 17-21.

Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue fought in their match, bouncing back in the second game to win 21-14 after a tough 12-21 loss in the first. Despite their efforts, the French duo couldn't keep the momentum going, falling to Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran who won the decider 21-7.
