An all-Danish men’s singles semifinal is on the cards at the LI-NING China Masters 2024, marking their first clash in 2024. Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen, who last faced off nearly a year ago at the World Tour Finals semifinal, are set to meet again in what promises to be an exciting encounter.
Both were the only Europeans to make it past the quarterfinals of this Super 750 tournament. Axelsen dispatched Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long in 39 minutes, mostly dominating throughout the match with a 21-18 21-11 victory.
Antonsen, on his part, kept his cool and control throughout his match against India’s Lakshya Sen, securing a semifinal spot with a solid 21-18 21-15 win. This sets the stage for a thrilling showdown between the two top Danes.
Meanwhile, in men’s doubles, Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen faced a setback, falling to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/ Chirag Shetty. Marking their return since the Paris Olympics, the Indian duo proved they are back and still a force to be reckoned with, confidently advancing to the semifinals.
The match between Axelsen and Antonsen is scheduled for 5 PM (CET) tomorrow.
