Europe’s journey at the YONEX BWF World Junior Championships 2024 came to an end after the Quarterfinals. The top-seeded Mixed Doubles pair, Tom Lalot Trescarte and Elsa Jacob (FRA), were the last Europeans standing, battling their way from the Round of 128 to the Quarterfinals.

Lalot Trescarte and Jacob have had a stellar season, winning several prestigious tournaments across Europe, including the FZ FORZA Alpes International U19 2024 and even claiming victory at the senior level in the VICTOR Latvia International 2023.

The YONEX BWF World Junior Championships consistently showcase the rising stars of global badminton, and many past winners have gone on to become legends of the sport. Previous champions include Viktor Axelsen (DEN), Chen Yu Fei (CHN), Gregoria Tunjung (INA), Kunlavut Vitidsarn (THA), Kento Momota (JPN), Nozomi Okuhara (JPN), Akane Yamaguchi (JPN), Zheng Siwei / Chen Qingchen (CHN), and Chen Qingchen / Jia Yifan (CHN).

While we didn't get a Euopean winner this time around, European badminton is making tremendous strides, with depth and talent on many levels. The continent's future in badminton looks brighter than ever.
