The third day at the VICTOR China Open 2024 has seen three European pairs advance to the quarterfinals, and Anders Antonsen gets revenge in a gripping rematch from last year's tournament.

It's been a challenging day filled with intense matches at the VICTOR China Open 2024 as players fought hard for a spot in the quarterfinals. Among the European winners, three pairs and one singles player successfully overcame tough opposition to advance.

Danish duo Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, seeded second, bounced back strongly after an early exit in their first post-Olympic tournament last week with a great match in the Round of 16. Also making their mark were eighth seeds Rasmus Kjær/ Frederik Søgaard, who triumphed over fellow Europeans Ben Lane/ Sean Vendy. The partnership of Jesper Toft/ Amalie Magelund, which began just three months ago, continues to impress, as they too secured a win.

A key highlight of the day was Anders Antonsen's victory, avenging last year's defeat in the same round by Loh Kean Yew at this very tournament. "Last year, in the same round, Loh defeated me easily so I’m very happy to get revenge today," Antonsen shared, reflecting on the three-game match which he won 21-12, 9-21, 21-18.

The tournament progresses to the quarterfinals tomorrow and so the European players will take the stage aiming to secure critical victories that could potentially lead to a medal.
