Mia Blichfeldt is leaving Badminton Denmark's elite training program as she moves to France to live with her French boyfriend.

Denmark's representative in women's singles at the last two Olympics, Mia Blichfeldt, is leaving the national team training in Brøndby effective immediately.

27-year-old Blichfeldt has announced that she made the decision due to personal reasons.

"I have chosen to move in with my boyfriend in France, which means I have to say goodbye to the daily training in Brøndby. I have really enjoyed my 10 years of training at the national team in Brøndby, and the collaboration with the other players and all the coaches, and at the same time, I am excited for a new chapter in my badminton and personal life," says Mia Blichfeldt.

The head of elite sports at Badminton Denmark, Jens Meibom, is disappointed with the decision but fully understands Blichfeldt's choice.

"We always want to have the best players in our training, as we prefer that our players can spar with each other on and off the court. We also understand that Mia wants to move in with her boyfriend, and we wish her all the best in this new phase of her life," says Jens Meibom.

With the move, Mia Blichfeldt is leaving Badminton Denmark's elite training program, thereby giving up having the national coach as her main coach, access to experts in individual tournaments, and financial tournament support. However, she will still be eligible for selection by Badminton Denmark for the European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympics.

Earlier this year, Blichfeldt won the Super 300 tournament German Open.
