The RSL BEC Para Badminton Event 2024 was delivered in Maria Enzersdorf, Austria, from 27 to 29 September. 17 coaches and 11 administrators from 15 different countries took part in the event.

This Development event, comprising the BWF Disability Coaching Workshop, Level 1 and an Administrator's course, showcased their enthusiasm to foster the growth of Para badminton.

The General Secretary Tina Riedl of Austrian Badminton Association said, “We were thrilled to host the BEC Para Badminton Event for the second time, and just like the first time, the atmosphere was truly special. Everyone was extremely positive and supportive, which helped us foster a welcoming and positive environment for all the participants.”

Guillaume Gailly and Dina Daz, the experts from France and Spain who delivered the Coaching Course, stated, “We are very happy with the general organisation. Accommodation and catering were excellent, and so was the venue. For the course, we planned more on-court sessions than before. For the coaches, we put them in the situation of playing as para players. It is very easy to simulate the situation with the wheelchair, compared to other sport classes. The level of the candidates made it go smooth and easy.”

One of the participants stated, “I found the experience very educational and my interactions with the para players very inspiring. I am looking forward to taking my new knowledge home and putting it to use.”

BEC Development Department’s Tommi Saksa and Mari Carmen Casermeiro Gamez delivered a successful Administrators course which had a total of 11 participants. Reflecting on the success, Saksa expressed, “I am satisfied with the outcome. At the Administrators’ course, the participants had a lot of fruitful discussions, teamwork, and networking. Based on seen and experienced, we managed to give something concrete to all participants. Hopefully, the participants will continue working together after the event as well.”

Finally, BEC would like to thank the Austrian Badminton Association for their hard work and efforts to make this event happen and delivered successfully.
