Top European junior players to meet in Serbia

A record number of competitors from all over Europe will showcase their badminton skills at the "Serbian U17 & Youth International" tournament, which will be held from June 19 to 23 at SC "Slana Bara" in Klisa, Novi Sad.

The "Serbian U17 & Youth International Novi Sad 2024" tournament is breaking all records, gathering nearly 450 young competitors and over 1000 participants from 23 European countries. Now in its 12th edition, this tournament is supported by Badminton Europe, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth, and the City of Novi Sad. This summer, the tournament has surpassed all previous records, achieving impressive numbers.

Young competitors will compete in men's and women's singles, men's, women's, and mixed doubles. On Wednesday, June 19, players aged 9 to 15 will be the first to take to the courts, officially opening this year's Serbian YOUTH International competition. From Friday, June 21, the courts will be reserved for the Serbian U17 International competition for players up to 17 years old. The weekend is set for the culmination of the competition, with semifinal and final matches where the young stars of European badminton will shine. After the final matches on Saturday, June 22, there will be an awards ceremony for the 9 to 15-year-old competitors. On Sunday, we look forward to the final battles and the awards ceremony for the U17 competitors who have excelled in their badminton skills and achieved the best results.

The traditional "Serbian U17 & Youth International Novi Sad 2024" tournament ranks among the top 3 tournaments of its kind in Europe in terms of participation, organization level, quality of competitors, and other relevant parameters. It is listed on the official calendar of the European Badminton Confederation. Internationally, the tournament will hold Grand Prix status, while nationally, it is recognized as an event of significance for the Republic of Serbia, AP Vojvodina, the City of Novi Sad, and society, as the youth show immense interest in this sport. Domestic young badminton players have so far won hundreds of medals at international competitions, demonstrating that Serbia offers the best in this Olympic sport, which has rightfully advanced to the second category of national sports in recent years.

The organizers of the badminton tournament in Novi Sad are the Badminton Association of Serbia, the Badminton Association of Vojvodina, and the Badminton Club Novi Sad. The "Serbian U17 & Youth International Novi Sad 2024" tournament is also supported by Victor, Beoexpo System, Tin Šped, Coca-Cola HBC Serbia, Bambi, VBS Solutions, Jungman Travel, the Tourist Organization of Serbia, and the Tourist Organization of Novi Sad.
