Earlier today, Thursday, Mariya Mitsova joined the BEC LIVE SESSION on Instagram to talk about the current situation, how she practices under the restrictions in Bulgaria and why she has been more active on her Social Medias lately.
The Bulgarian women’s singles player has been chasing points the last year to secure a spot at the Olympic Games, but two months ago everything was put on hold. Commenting on her thoughts at that moment, she says.
- At first, I was like this is not real, this is not happening. But then as time passed by, you see the seriousness of the situation and that it is not only in your country but all over the world.
- I had trouble accepting it. I had a moment of “what did we fight for so much and so long and now nothing. Everything is postponed, we do not know what is happening at all. We are just on hold. It is also hard as you do not know if you should use this time to practice even harder or take some time off as we don’t know when the next tournament will be.

Instagram active
Lately Mitsova has been a lot more active on her Instagram account. For Mitsova there were two general reasons for her to spend a little extra time on her Instagram.
- In general, I am a very private person. I see a lot of players who share their training, their lives, what they cook and what they like to do in their free time. I was thinking like why can’t I do that? What is making me not showing myself as much? Also, it is kind of an uncomfortable zone for me, but we know from sport that the more you go out of your comfort zone, the more you develop yourself. So, I was like, maybe I should try it.
- Secondly, funding is a big decision in sport. And I know that if I want to find some decent sponsors, I need to have a product to promote and sell, and I can’t do that if I am so private and people don’t know anything about me.
You can still watch the live session with Mariya Mitsova on our Instagram until tomorrow morning.
