As Day 2 of the Li-Ning World Junior Championships ends, there are more wins for the European young stars in Markham, Canada.

The first came for the Danish Men’s Doubles, Mads Muurholm/Mads Vestergaard, who managed to get one over their opponents from the Ukraine, Danylo Bosinuk/Ivan Medynskiy and won in straight games (21-12, 21-19).

A new experience!

Tereza Švábíková faced the Australian, Ella Smith and showed everyone that she was capable of winning the first game 21-14 and the second 21-13.

Švábíková was playing for the first time ever at the tournament and like Nhat Nguyen in yesterday’s play, she was also not used to the slow hall.

- It was my first match here at the WJC, I did not play the team event, so I had a little problem to adjust to the hall. The hall is high and it makes the game much slower, but I am happy I got used to it and could win in two sets, Tereza Švábíková said.

- In the next round, I am facing a Korean girl. I have seen her playing and I know I have a chance to win, but I need to play my game and stick to the game plan, she added.

Preparation is the key

Sophia Grundtvig was also a winner on Day 2, picking up a victory against her German opponent, Ann-Kathrin Spöri, in straight games (22-20, 21-12.)

Grundtvig revealed to Badminton Europe that she had made sure that she was ready for the challenge ahead of her before her match against Ann-Kathrin Spöri.

- I was well prepared, which my coach had helped me with. So, I was really happy when I won, Sophia Grundtvig told Badminton Europe.

- Now I am preparing for my next match against a very well-playing Japanese, and I am looking forward to playing again, she added.
