Yesterday, Christo Popov and Toma Junior Popov played both in men’s doubles and singles. In the morning session, the brothers faced Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard and lost in straight games 19-21 19-21.

Later in the day, Christo and Toma performed at their singles matches. Christo Popov played against Felix Burestedt and won 17-21, 21-12, 21-12: “The first game was very complicated. Felix played a really good game in the first set, and he pushed me hard, mentally, tacitly and also physically. I’m happy that I got the win even if I didn’t want to lose too much energy today”, shared the Frenchman yesterday in the Round of 32.

Then Toma Junior Popov had his chance to keep on track, but lost to Christian Adinata in three games 21-16, 19-21, 16-21, ending his journey at the Orleans Masters 2023.

Being the only Popov left, Christo played in the Round of 16 against Lei Lan Xi today. To a lot of fans’ surprise, Popov lost in straight games 15-21 12-21, making the exit of the Popov brothers official.

Tomorrow quarterfinals start at 13:00 (CET) and you can watch the matches here.
