After an exciting three-game match, Anders Antonsen advances to the semifinals at the Denmark Open.
It certainly didn’t look like a match that would end in favor of the Dane, as Antonsen lost the first set 12-21 and appeared to struggle to find both rhythm and the court. The strong wind conditions the players are facing during this tournament are seen by Antonsen as the biggest factor in shifting the momentum of the match, as he dominated the second game 21-8.
The third game was a thrilling contest, with an aggressive Li Shi Feng coming out strong and leading 13-10. Antonsen stayed close throughout the set and reached match point at 20-19. The match concluded 22-20 to standing ovations from the home crowd in Odense.
Anders Antonsen will face Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the semifinals on Saturday. Both players have needed three games in all of their matches to advance, so we expect a long and exciting battle for a place in the final. However, there’s no need to worry about whether the Dane is ready for another lengthy match on Saturday, as he said, "I feel amazing, I wanted to max out and give everything this week."
