Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen have secured their spot in the finals of the CLASH ROYALE Arctic Open 2024 powered by YONEX, defeating the Thai duo Kittinupong Kedren/ Dechapol Puavaranukroh (21-14, 21-19).
Reflecting on their semi-final match, Astrup shared his satisfaction with the performance. “It was not easy, but it was a great game. I think we played at a high level all throughout the match and that paid off.”
A great moment in the match involved a broken racket string, which Rasmussen handled with a quick racket switch mid-match — a move he had never attempted before. “Kim always tells me to go out. I managed to switch rackets and then we won the point, and that is a first,” he explained.
Looking ahead to the finals against Goh Sze Fei/ Nur Izzuddin, Rasmussen acknowledged the strengths of their opponents but remained optimistic about their own recent performances. “They see us as a tough opponent, but so do we at them. They're physically very strong and that's also one of our forces. It will be a tough game, you have to be good all over to beat those guys. It’s just about raising our level one more time,” he said.
The final with Astrup and Rasmussen will be the third match of the day, with the matches beginning at 12 PM (EEST).
