Closing Day 1 with intense clashes

In a thrilling last session of the opening day for badminton at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ireland's Nhat Nguyen clinched a hard-fought victory over Israel's Misha Zilberman in Group P. The match was the longest of the day.

Nguyen, participating in his second Olympics, took the first game 21-17. The experienced Zilberman responded by winning the second game 21-19 but with remarkable composure, Nguyen secured the match with a 21-13 win in the decider.

Danes Kim Astrup/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen also recorded a significant victory, defeating the American duo of Vinson Chiu/ Joshua Yuan in straight games, 21-13 21-16. They are facing Lee Yang/ Wang Chi-Lin from Chinese Taipei tomorrow.

Margot Lambert/ Anne Tran gave it their all in their match today. The French duo started strong, taking the first game 21-12 against Thailand's Jongkolphan Kititharakul/ Rawinda Prajongjai. Despite the opening, the Thai pair rebounded to claim the next two games 21-13 21-15, securing the victory.
