The YONEX Belgian International 2023 will take place in Leuven, Belgium, from September 13 to September 16, featuring top-seeded Julien Carraggi, who will be in the spotlight in the men's singles draw.
Julien reached the second round of the TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2023 earlier this year, putting up a fierce fight against Japan's Kenta Nishimoto, eventually losing 22-24, 25-23, 8-21. Carraggi has expressed his excitement about playing in front of his home crowd.
“I’m very excited to play here again in what I now consider my 'home' since we moved here last year. Growing up with the sport, attending this event was always the highlight of my year, watching international players in action. I'll give my absolute best to perform well at this home tournament. Playing in front of my family and friends is always a great boost and I’m sure their support behind the court will help me a lot. Amid the busy Olympic qualification period, I'll focus on delivering my best game out there and play match by match. Can’t wait to step on court!”
The women’s draw also features some top European shuttlers, including home favorite Lianne Tan and Denmark’s Line Christophersen, who holds the top seeding.
