It’s day two of the DAIHATSU Japan Open 2023, and two special victories took place today in Tokyo.
From England, Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith performed with excellence in their first round. The English pair beat Chang Ko-Chi and Lee Chih Chen, from Chinese Taipei, 21-15 21-13, and tomorrow will face Ko Sung Hyun and Eom Hye Won, from Korea.
But they were not the only Europeans qualifying for the next round today. Anders Antonsen won his opener match versus Lu Guang Zu, from China 21-12 21-14. The Dane will have another tough matchup in facing Kodai Naraoka from Japan in the round of 16. Both have faced each other twice just recently with Naraoka winning at the Indonesia Open and Antonsen taking the win in Singapore.
