After reaching the final of the Belgian International, new Danish Men’s Doubles pair David Daugaard and Frederik Søgaard believe that the only way is up.

The pair who played in a partnership for just the second time in Leuven managed the road to the final but were narrowly beaten by the top seeds for the tournament.

Both players are still young and have time on their side to succeed in the new partnership after playing together for the first time at the Barcelona Spanish Masters.

The new partnership

Søgaard revealed that he was enjoying the early stages of the partnership with Daugaard, and also revealed that the two also bond off the court too, which makes the partnership easier to get used to.

- I really like playing with David (Daugaard), this was only our second tournament as a pair and it was nice to be in the final.

- I have fun with David, both on and off the court so it is really fun being partnered with him.

The future for the Great Danes

Daugaard & Søgaard told Badminton Europe that despite being new on the court, they both have big plans for the future, along with their new coach Jakob Hoi.

- We have a new a new coach Jakob Hoi, who we are very proud to have and he also has very big plans for us like we have so we hope for the best in the future.

- Of course, it would be great to play against the big ones and win medals at the Olympics and the World Championships.
