After the last stop in Oviedo with our RSL BWF/BEC Coaching Education Level 1 course, now it is time for our tutors to thrive.

Haarlem and the facilities of Degiro Hal open their doors once again, welcoming nine participants from all over Europe during the RSL BWF/BEC Tutors Level 1 course.

“It is great to organise this RSL BWF/BEC Tutors Level 1 course. Everyone will hopefully get to enjoy this experience and get to learn from each other. Badminton Netherlands is also looking forward to getting new tutors educated so that we can continue developing our education,” Robbert de Keijzer, Education Manager at Badminton Netherlands, stated.

Coaching and tutoring have some similarities but they also require different skills and approaches. These nine coaches, all unique and with different backgrounds and experiences, will have to adapt and perform a new role as a tutor during two and a half intense days on and off court.

“The participants have made a really good start in the course today and I’m sure that they will level up tomorrow the practical and theoretical tasks. I’m looking forward to seeing this progress,” Craig McCourtney, trainer of the course, shared.

Tutoring techniques, lesson planning, effective communication, and how to provide feedback in a constructive and supportive way will be some of the aspects that the tutor of the course, Craig McCourtney, together with Paul Vennekens, shadow tutor, will be assessing.

“It feels great to be back in Haarlem after our last visit for the ADVANCE course in January. The Tutors course is a different experience. This is my third time organising it and I always get to learn from all the participants attending,” Mari Carmen Casermeiro, BEC Development and High Performance Officer, said. “I’m looking forward to seeing them in action.”

The RSL BWF/BEC Tutors Level 1 Course will be running until Sunday 14 May.
