Stenhus Gymnasium and Badminton Europe have started a new project, where young aspiring players get the opportunity to combine high-level badminton training with an international study.

Stenhus Gymnasium, located in Holbæk, is one of the biggest high schools in Denmark and is hosting a Badminton Academy alongside its study program. The Badminton Europe Centre of Excellence (COE) is located only a few minutes away by bike from the school.

The main vision of the project is to provide a professional training setup next to high-quality studies. The program has been organised to support in the best way the players’ development as a badminton player as well as to secure their future in life.

The balance of practices at Stenhus and at the COE will depend on the players’ level. An assessment will be made by the COE/Stenhus coaches team to offer the best and most adapted training to each player in order to support their development. With this new cooperation project, Badminton Europe and Stenhus Gymnasium expect the players to continue their badminton career and to become professional badminton players at the COE after finishing their studies.

At Stenhus and at the COE, our players benefit from a professional setup with top-level badminton coaches and facilities. This year, our two Stenhus head coaches are Christian Møller Madsen (former Danish national coach) and Maxime Moreels (former Top 80 MS player). At the COE, the coaches are Jeroen Van Dijk (Head coach and former German National Coach) and Dennis Broch Christensen (former National Coach for Italy, Swiss and Sweden).

Stenhus offers a minimum of 5 badminton sessions a week and 3 physical trainings (strength, prevention). The players also benefit from regular testing and have access to medical structure and mental coaches. Beside badminton, the players enjoy various group activities such as our annual college trip.

Stenhus Gymnasium offers 3 education programs: STX (Danish high school), HF and the IB program: International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. This last one is an excellent preparation for post-secondary education in Denmark as well as abroad focusing on high academic standards and on educating students to be open-minded, caring and responsible.

If you choose the IB path, you will follow a 3-year program: 1 year “Pre-IB” and 2 years “IB DP”. Studying in Denmark is totally free of charge and you can find more information about the programs on: https://www.stenhus-gym.dk/pre-ib-ib/.

The deadline to apply for the Pre-IB or IB Diploma Programme 2023-2024 at Stenhus Gymnasium is the 1st of February 2023.

Our badminton students are accommodated at Holbæk Sportsby where the Badminton Europe Centre of Excellence is located. The accommodation consists of a one-room-apartment including a small kitchen area and own bathroom.

The deadline to apply is March 1st, 2023.
