Unstoppable Axelsen takes Malaysia Open title

Viktor Axelsen put on a mighty performance to make it 15 straight wins in Indonesia and Malaysia to complete the treble of titles and shows no signs of slowing down.

In just 34 minutes, the determined Dane gave a clinical performance against Kento Momota in the final of the Malaysia Open 2022, becoming the first European to take the men's singles title since Peter Gade in 2007, who watched on in the stands.

Losing just 11 points in total in the final just shows the gulf in class at the moment between the Olympic Champion and the chasing group. The Tour de France set off in Denmark this week and much like some of the cyclists will do, Axelsen has broken away to take the lead in the men's singles category and is not looking back.

This was Axelsen's fifth title of 2022 and he is well on the way to surpassing his eight titles in 2021. Will number six come next week at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2022?

The final results
