Viktor Axelsen secured the double in Indonesia after winning the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open. He joins the legendary names of Lee Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat and Ardy Wiranata as the only men's singles players to win back-to-back titles.

In another dominant season, the prestigious Indonesia Open title was number four for the Dane in 2022. While cruising to the Indonesia Masters title, Axelsen faced a match point down in the semifinal this week against a determined Lee Zii Jia. However, Axelsen seems to always find a way.

In less than half a decade, the recently crowned European Champion has won 14 World Tour titles from 19 finals. His opponent today, China's Zhao Jun Peng, was making his World Tour final debut and it perhaps showed.

Zhao had found a way past Axelsen in their five previous meetings. However, it was one-way traffic in the final. Axelsen put on a clinical performance, not allowing his opponent into the match at all, winning 21-9, 21-10.

The champions
Tai Tzu Ying also doubled up on her titles in Indonesia after a top display against Wang Zhi Yi, coming from a game down to win 21-23 21-6 21-15.

From splitting as a pair to returning to the top, Zheng Si Wei/ Huang Ya Qiong gave a solid performance against Yuta Watanabe/ Arisa Higashino to win 21-14 21-16, as they did in 2019.

The Japanese women's doubles dominance continued with Nami Matsuyama/ Chiharu Shida holding onto their title by defeating the 2018 & 2019 champions Yuki Fukushima/ Sayaka Hirota 18-21 21-14 21-17.

Liu Yu Chen made it two Indonesia Open titles for him after a powerful win with new partner Ou Xuan Yi against Koreans Choi Sol Gyu/ Kim Won Ho, 21-17, 23-21.
