The European Paralympic Committee (EPC) General Assembly took the 6th of November 2021 in Limassol, Cyprus and Badminton Europe was in attendance to take part in the discussion.
As stated in their statutes, the purpose of the EPC is to promote and defend the collective interest of European athletes with disabilities and to provide sports programs and initiatives for persons with a disability.
The EPC is supported by the European Union and the Austrian government, and has its main office in Vienna, Austria. Badminton Europe (BEC), a member of this organisation, has been regularly attending its assemblies and conferences.
João Matos, BEC Vice President, was present at the assembly and reiterated its importance.
-To be an active member of EPC is really important for BEC as it provides us with an insight on the best practices from all the Para family in Europe and we can learn how to best develop Para badminton in our continent.
-Looking at the topics of the Conference today I really enjoyed the views on the European Para Games in 2023 as well as the Tokyo feedback where we had our debut participation of Para badminton. The AGM will be a very important one with the elections of the Executive Board and the approval of the Strategy 2021-2023. Of course, also with the normal topics of the bi-annual report and finances.
