The partners of the Erasmus+ Sport 2021-2023 ADVANCE Project, co-founded by the Erasmus+Programme of the European Union, have met for the second time.

After the anticipated first meeting that took place in February early this year, which saw the ADVANCE project being set in motion after a period of preparation, the partners met for a second time to discuss and evaluate the progress of the project. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was conducted as a hybrid meeting and it was hosted by the University of Physical Education and Sports of Bucharest (Universitatea Națională de Educație Fizica și Sport din Bucaresti) in Bucharest, Romania.

A successful partners’ meeting
The Training Needs Analysis plays an important part on how the European Badminton Coaching Education and the online tool, European Badminton Coaching platform, will be built. Information is being collected through interviews as well as questionnaires with coaches, players and education managers which are being analysed together with best practice analysis of already existing badminton coaching education programmes.

- It is an interesting process and I´m sure we will get some great insights to how we can build both the Badminton Coaching Education programme and the online tool. At the meeting, we had an interesting and constructive discussion on how we can optimize the report and the outcome of the research, Project Manager and Development & High-Performance Senior Manager at Badminton Europe, Jacob Oehlenschlæger stated

- We also want to give a big thank you to everyone who has participated in this part of the process, which has been crucial to have a better understanding of the overall educational situation, Oehlenschlæger said.

The Training Needs Analysis is the first part of the ADVANCE project. The second part is to develop a European Badminton Coaching Framework. The framework will serve as foundation for the European Badminton Coaching Education programme. The meeting in Bucharest was also used to agree on and finalize the working plan for the second part of the ADVANCE project.

The ADVANCE Framework
The consortium of six partner organisations, Universitatea Națională de Educație Fizica și Sport din Bucaresti, International Council for Coaching Excellence, Badminton Nederland, University of Cyprus Sports Center, Badminton Scotland and Deutscher Badminton-Verband e.V. is moving forward with the development of the new ADVANCE Badminton Coaching Education Framework.

The provisional structure has been already discussed and all partners have already started to provide their feedbacks and knowledge based on the outcomes of the Needs Analysis and the integration of EU policies in the field of sport.

- It is very exciting to see how the ADVANCE Badminton Coaching Education Framework is evolving. We had a very insightful meeting with plenty of ideas and contributions which allows us to build a holistic approach to develop the European Badminton Coach Education and the online tool. We are really positive, and we look forward to getting to the next phases of the project, Project Manager and Development & High-Performance Senior Manager at Badminton Europe, Jacob Oehlenschlæger stated.

Through the Erasmus+ Sport Collaborative Partnership program, the European Union support the project in the period from January 2021 until December 2023.
