Bronze medallists in 2019 have done what no team has done since 2005, defeat Denmark in a European U17 team event. This Russian team are not done yet and are determined to go all the way.

It is quite fitting that at the beginning of Denmark's impressive run, which includes eight European U17 team titles, it was Russia who were runner-up 16 years ago.

Russia have been putting in strong performances all week and today they were led into battle by Daniil Dubovenko who gave Russia an early lead with a men's singles win over William Bogebjorg, 21-16, 21-18. It was tight in the second game, but Dubovenko came out on top and spoke proudly about his team.

-I had to play hard in the second game, but I am happy to have won in two games. Russia is progressing well and we are here to win.

Not a game dropped
Galina Mezentseva did not let up on the pressure and made it 2-0 in just 24 minutes of play against Kajsa Van Dalm in the women's singles, 21-10, 21-14.

Daniil Dubovenko returned to the court in the men's doubles with Gleb Stepakov against Jonathan Melgaard/ Mike Vestergaard. The Danes made it hard, but the Russians did the business, 21-13, 21-18. A big 3-0 against the holders.

-We have been preparing for a long time and are very happy with the win, exclaimed a smiling Stepakov.

With a new champion crowned tomorrow, Russia will face France for the title. Watch all matches live on www.badmintoneurope.tv
