The Czech players had much to celebrate after the quarterfinals at the 2021 European U17 Team Championships.
Some moments are to remember for a lifetime. Today, it was such a moment for the Czech team at the #EU17C21.
The Czech team beat Sweden 3-2 in their quarterfinals and the win secured them a spot in the semifinals for the first time since 2003.
Lucie Krulová and Petra Maixnerová became match winners, winning the last match of the tie against Elin Öhling and Elin Ryberg in three games.
- We can't believe it right now. It was amazing, and I cannot describe it right now because I cannot believe it yet. There are so many emotions in us and in our coaches. We wanted it so badly, Maixnerová said.
- We are so excited for the semi finals, Krulová added.
So close for the Turks
The Turkish team was close to pulling off an upset by beating the reigning Danish champions. Turkey lost 3-2 to the Danes in a tie, which they had all chances to win after leading in the third game of the women’s doubles.
Denmark will be facing the top seeds from Russian in the semifinals later on Monday. Russia beat Ukraine 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
Another French medal
France will be the last team to medal at the 2021 European U17 Team Championships. The French team went into a thriller against Spain, which was decided in the fifth and final match of the tie.
Malya Hoareau and Camille Pognante secured the medal for France winning in straight games against Nikol Carulla and Carmen Maria Jimenez.
France will be playing Czech Rep. in the semifinals.
