Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the Badminton Europe Board of Directors has chosen to cancel the 2021 European Senior Championships.

The event was first scheduled to take place from 20-27 June in Zadar, Croatia, but when it appeared that those dates and that location were not feasible, Badminton Europe was looking at an alternative in the beginning of August. Unfortunately, that option also proved to be not possible, so now Badminton Europe will instead focus on the 2022 European Senior Championships, which will take place 7-13 August 2022 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The final cancellation comes after several surveys were sent to the Members, who were asked if they intend to participate in the 2021 event, and with how many players.

- The circumstances simply do not make it possible for us to organise the event in the way we would like it to be. So, therefore, we unfortunately have to announce the cancellation of the 2021 European Senior Championships, Deputy General Secretary at Badminton Europe, Jimmy Andersen, stated.

The European senior players still have one more chance to compete at an international championships in 2021. The World Senior Championships is still scheduled to take place from 8-14 December in Huelva, Spain.
