Sara González Martínez, is our new Communication Volunteer, who has joined Badminton Europe as part of an EU-funded programme for the next 12 months.

Sara hails from the resort city of Palma, on the Spanish island of Mallorca and is an extremely ambitious young person looking to permanently relocate to Denmark. She studied English Studies at the University of the Balearic Islands and recently worked within editorial and content production.

Sara previously participated in two European-funded programmes, the Erasmus+ Study programme with the University of Sheffield, studying a semester in the UK and also the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme where she was a Language Assistant at Tornbjerg Gymnasium in Odense, Denmark.

-I think it is such a great opportunity, especially for young people. I really enjoyed it as it allowed me to experience a different culture and a different educational system.

It was the one
Her latest adventure with Badminton Europe is part of the Erasmus European Solidarity Corps programme which was an easy and smooth process to navigate through several opportunities to gain experience.

-On the portal, you can view various organisations where you can develop your skills and help in many different ways. I am interested and have studied in the area of communication, also badminton is one of my favourite sports I played at school because it was the one that boys and girls would play together. I like the fact that Badminton Europe advocates equality and sports for all.

Arriving in Denmark less than 20 days before the 2021 European Championships, Sara will hit the ground running with our biggest event of the year. She looks forward to the challenge ahead.

-I think the work Badminton Europe do is important. Maybe a young girl or boy will see our work and be inspired by the content, so it is a good way to reach these audiences and maybe even future players.
