With just days left until the 2021 European Mixed Team Championships, we take it in turns to look at each of the eight teams competing to be crowned the best in Europe.

Scotland’s Group 1 opponents: Denmark, Germany and Finland.

Scotland pulled off the surprise of knocking out the seeded Spanish team in the qualification group for the finals. The Scots won the group on the final day, 3-2 against Spain, in a tie where Scottish star Kirsty Gilmour withdrew with an ankle injury.

Scotland are without Gilmour in Finland but are a close-knit team who will rally together and embrace their underdog status. The potential of the Scottish team is big, and in the doubles they can also challenge the rest of the competing nations.

Scotland’s #EMTC trophy cabinet is empty, however the Scottish women’s team scored a historic first medal at the 2020 European Women’s Team Championships.

Strongest lineup based on squad and world ranking as of 09.02.21.

MS – CIAR PRINGLE (667)
WS – HOLLY NEWALL (209)
MD – CHRISTOPHER GRIMLEY/ MATTHEW GRIMLEY (62)
WD – JULIE MACPHERSON/ CIARA TORRANCE (66)
XD – ADAM HALL/ JULIE MACPHERSON (50)
