The physically very strong Gaudin overcame the first game deficit to beat the second seed Mads Møller 19-21, 21-14, 21-10.

- I cannot explain. It is such an amazing feeling to get a medal. It is a very good moment for me and I don’t want to stop it right now.

- I missed a few shots in the first game but in my head, I was very confident. My legs were on fire so I kept fighting and won the match.

He acknowledged that Møller’s tough matches in the previous rounds helped him triumph in today’s physical battle.

- I am very strong physically and I can use it to win the match.

Aiming for gold
The third seed Joakim Oldorff defeated the Russian Georgii Lebedev in straight games to secure a medal for Finland on home soil.

He led throughout the match to win 21-17, 21-18 in 40 minutes. It seems like the Finnish sauna was indeed the best way to prepare. He praised his opponent.

- I am really pleased and happy to be in the semifinals. I will do my best there. Georgii is always a good opponent and I had to play well to beat him. I played well.

Despite a tough semifinal draw with Yanis Gaudin, he is determined to go all the way.

- Of course, I am aiming for the gold on home soil.
