Already in the opening match on the third day of Denmark Open the first surprise happened as fourth seeds Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are out of the tournament.

Fourth seeds Astrup/Rasmussen were the favorites when they walked on court playing the countrymen Joel Eipe/Rasmus Kjær. But the favorites did not walk off court as winners.

In the first game, Eipe/Kjær quickly took the lead and controlled most of the game before winning it 21-18. The second game Astrup/Rasmussen managed to turn the things around into their favour and they won 21-17. The match had to be decided in the third and last game.

A Super 750 quarterfinal

As in the first game, Eipe/Kjær were on top in most of the game and kept a lead down to Astrup/Rasmussen. They won the last game 21-16, and the world number 125 are now in a Super 750 quarter final.

- I feel great, happy and relieved. A lot of emotions right now. We were very disappointed with our performances in the first round, but our coach reminded us that the main point of the first round is to win, and we gave our self an opportunity to do better today, Kjær said.

- We had our video analysis, so we found some points where we set a tactic and we just tried to keep that tactic all the way through. We did not go away from that tactic, not even when they won the second game, Eipe stated.

They will play either Fabien Delrue/William Villeger from France or Matthew Clare/Max Flynn from England in the quarter final of Denmark Open.
