Over the weekend, the big day took place for two Centre of Excellence (CoE) players who tied the knot.

Milan Ludik and Kate Foo Kune have been pronounced husband and wife at St. James Church in Brno, Czech Republic. Not only did they make their vows in front of friends and family present, but also the eyes of the badminton world.

Kate Foo Kune was born in Moka, Mauritius. However, badminton has taken the five-time African champion to many places. One of which is the high-performance training facility at Holbæk, Denmark, the CoE.

Milan Ludik is Czech Republic’s number one men’s singles player with four titles to his name. Also, training at the CoE, Milan and Kate bonded, and their lovely relationship flourished towards an engagement in late November 2019, where Milan posted on social media.

- I am truly happy to share amazing news. Together with Kate we recently got engaged. I was nervous but luckily, she said YES. I am extremely fortunate, and I cannot wait to spend countless days in the company of such a wonderful woman. I am not alone anymore; we are two now!

Kate, posted the happy photo of the two, presenting the ring on her finger to the camera. She added the message.

- I said YES! I am very lucky and truly blessed to be engaged to my soulmate. I cannot wait to spend a lifetime with you!

Nearly nine months later, the special wedding day arrived and the marriage vows read. The best women was Lia Šalehar, also a badminton player from Slovenia and a good friend of Kate’s from her training days in Odense, Denmark.

The best man was Anders Gavnholt, Milan’s brother in law and best friend. Anders is married to Czech badminton player and three-time Olympian, Kristina Gavnholt (née Ludikova).

The reception took place just under 30km outside of Brno, in the uniquely stylish ‘Sklep na Vyhlídce’. Surrounded by loved ones, they celebrated this badminton-themed union.

From everyone at Badminton Europe, we would like to send our warmest congratulations to Milan and Kate on this special day. We are thoroughly delighted that two players from our Centre of Excellence were able to find their soulmates and start a new journey in their lives.

With the last word, the newlyweds send this message.

- We would just like to say that we are so grateful to have found each other and we are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together. Now we are another happy badminton couple.
