The eighth edition of the European Men's and Women's Team Championships in Liévin, France has come to an end. I am sure that the fans can agree that it was a terrific week of badminton at it’s very best on display.
Peter Tarcala, President of Badminton Europe, agrees with this and states.
-We have been here for six days here in France. We have seen fantastic badminton and excellent organisation from the French badminton association.
During the group stages, we had 10 courts running at the same time, Tarcala comments about this impressive feat and how it was a success.
-This is not small a small event as we have men’s and women’s teams coming from all over Europe. This also shows us that the event is seen as important and the popularity is still here. We saw some nations winning a medal for the first time, which is great for the sport.
-We also had the U15 European Championships, bringing many young players from 39 countries to France to compete alongside the stars of Europe. They showed an improvement in their level within this age group, which is a satisfying progression in this area.
